British Jewellery Giftware & Finishing Federation Benevolent Society

CHARITY BEGINS AT WORK

If you are making a good living from jewellery, giftware, leathergoods, art metalware or surface engineering, perhaps you should stop to consider those in these industries who are less fortunate than yourself.

The British Jewellery Giftware & Finishing Federation Benevolent Society is a registered charity especially for those who have been employed within the industries covered by the six trade associations of The British Jewellery Giftware & Finishing Federation:

THE ART METALWARE MANUFACTURERS' ASSOCIATION
THE BRITISH JEWELLERS' ASSOCIATION
THE BRITISH LUGGAGE AND LEATHERGOODS ASSOCIATION
THE GIFTWARE ASSOCIATION
THE JEWELLERY DISTRIBUTORS' ASSOCIATION
THE SURFACE ENGINEERING ASSOCIATION

It is dedicated to ensuring that when things go wrong - charity begins at work!

WE HELP

anyone once engaged in the industries we cover, who for reasons of old age, ill health, or disablement, find themselves, or close family members, in need of assistance. It must be remembered that, years ago, when the majority of our beneficiaries were employed, pension schemes were practically unheard of and even today, many companies do not make any pension provision for their employees. For some, retirement, coupled with managing on a State Pension and Income Support can be very hard.

WE PROVIDE

financial aid to those in need, by means of either a small quarterly grant or through special "one off" payments to cover the cost of essential items such as telephone rentals for those who literally need a "life line"; bed linen for the incontinent, heaters for those with circulatory problems, nebulisers for those with breathing difficulties - the need seems endless. Remember that a sum as small as £30.00 may make the difference between having, or not having, a much needed telephone link with the outside world.

WE CARE

for over 90 beneficiaries, many of whom are elderly, housebound and living alone. For them we provide more than simply financial support. We give them something to look forward to with specially organised outings.

WE NEED YOUR ASSISTANCE

The majority of our funds are raised through voluntary donations and through fund-raising events organised by members of The British Jewellery & Giftware Federation. However, we are finding that more and more cases are being referred to us from social services departments, Help the Aged, Age Concern and so on and, quite honestly, it is becoming more and more difficult to cope with the burdens placed upon us. HENCE, WE BADLY NEED YOUR HELP!

If your industry has been good to you, please, please, remember us; make The Benevolent Society part of YOUR charity giving and remember us in YOUR WILL.

If you wish to make a donation to The British Jewellery Giftware & Finishing Federation Benevolent Society, or would like to put forward the name of someone in the United Kingdom who is in need of assistance please contact the Secretary of the Society, Lynn Snead on 0845 2260 161 or fax her on 0121 236 3921 or by email through the Jewellery Distributors Association at lynn@teg.co.uk. All referrals are treated strictly confidentially.
